Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator and direct supervision of the ES/NFI Project Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for drafting all reports and information products of the ES/NFI program. The incumbent will also support with project development, project proposals and donor reporting for ES/NFI, as requested by the ES/NFI Project Officer
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Provide context analysis and collect data regarding the gaps and needs from the field to support
in proposal writing and annual report. 2. Support the development of relevant ES/NFI tools such as thematic assessments, distribution PDM Reports, beneficiary list, ES/NFI updates, alerts, factsheets, inventory etc. 3. Contribute to regular and timely donor reporting, and provide regular, complete and concise tracking reports of the programme implementation to the Project Officer. 4. Conceptualize mission’s data from the field on bi-weekly basis and create factsheets, info graphs from it. 5. Support the development of project proposals and concept notes in line with donor priorities and ES/NFI Programme strategies in close coordination with the Project Officer. 6. Track and answer to information / data requests from IOM (IOM HQ and other missions) and external staff (OCHA, sector etc.) in coordination with the Project Officer. 7. Support the Project Officer in liaising with IOM Focal persons, humanitarian sectors and partners in order to plan and conduct field operations. 8. Support with the training of ES/NFI Focal Persons and enumerators for implementation of ES/NFI’s new methodologies. 9. Support with the expansion of ES/NFI’s operation into additional states (Northern, Red Sea, Kassala, Gedaref, White Nile, Khartoum and Blue Nile). 10. Perform such other duties as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, migration related studies, anthropology, or a migration related discipline (e.g. humanitarian affairs, development studies, political science, international relations or a related field) Experience • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in project development, scientific or academic writing, routine reporting. • Excellent research, writing, communication and analytical skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility. • Ability to read quantitative findings from different data collection exercises and translate it into meaningful information and narrative. • Knowledge of migration-related issues particularly with regard to the Middle East North Africa and Sub Saharan Africa. • Additional degree or work experience in the displacement and migration field. • Ability to present research findings to different pools of stakeholders (donors, governments, academics, practitioners, etc.). Languages
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English language is required. Working knowledge in Arabic language is advantageous. Desirable Competencies:
