Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Under the overall supervision of the Programme Support Coordinator, and direct supervision of the National Communications and Media Officer, and in close coordination with the Programmes Mangers, the successful candidate will support the production of high-quality products for print and online purposes for the IOM Sudan Mission.

 Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

1. Assist with Media Monitoring and flagging of migration issues reported in the media, online, print and broadcast. 

2. Assist in following local media and Journalists, including radio, TV and print to identify information, perceptions and misinformation among the media and their audiences. 

3. Assist in the unofficial translation for press releases and posts and tweets of migration issues and IDPs on Social Media, contacts with printers to ensure production. 

4. Provide clerical assistance in the administrative and logistic coordination of outreach events, the information management campaigns and social cohesion activities.

 5. Assist with research into social media advertising and monitoring of success rates.

6. Assist in timely and efficient publication and distribution of media content for the Mission’s social media channels as well as the global website and other IOM media, websites. 

7. Assist the drafting of standardized communication templates and tools for the mission. 

8. Distribute materials and items to staff and IOM offices in the field. 

9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications and Experience 


• University degree or specialized college diploma (MPA) in journalist, Media Communications, public information, or a related field with at least two year of relevant professional experience. Experience 

• Knowledge of ethical standards in reporting on issues related to migration.

 • Experience working with IOM and/or another UN agency preferred.

 • Experience organizing events and a press conference. 

• Understanding of social media and solid experience working with UN media

 • Ability to work under pressure and to follow suggestions and constructive recommend ations.

 • Knowledge of the region is an advantage. 


• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.

• Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.


 Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
