As an active development agency, UNDP produces knowledge and communications products and publications on a regular basis. A significant requirement for this is high-quality photo and video content, documenting the people, results and activities carried out by UNDP Sudan and its projects.

Photos and videos are expected to be used for key products; a photo archive, short documentaries (1-3 minutes each), and an in-house gallery. Further, photos and documentaries are expected to be exhibited on UNDP public events, UNDP web posting, social media, and print publications, etc.

Under the guidance of the Head of Communications of UNDP Sudan Country Office in Khartoum, the Consultant (IC) is to produce a package of photographs and video clips on an as-needs basis to document UNDP work, activities, and events. Most importantly, the Consultant is to produce images demonstrating results and success stories of UNDP work in the country. The photographs and images should tell a story which emphasizes UNDP contribution to the country’s efforts to promote growth and development.

Whenever possible, the photographs and images should highlight the achievements and impact of UNDP work by illustrative BEFORE and AFTER images, telling the country’s development story by using compelling images focusing on people and communities.

The Consultant (IC) will work on a needs basis to produce a series of still photographs illustrating the topic as described above. All material should reveal work that is a direct result of UNDP funding, programs, and projects — which will be provided to the Consultant (IC) or arranged for him / her at the field level.

Specific activities include:

  1. Extensive field visits, filming, and photo shooting, including basic audio-capture for interviews.
  2. In compliance with UNDP External Consultant Guidelines, editing (in Photoshop) and providing high-resolution images in high- and low-resolution JPEG, and RAW format, providing delivery via electronic methods

  4. Capturing biographical/basic data of key people photographed and interviewed, and on request, undertaking short interviews (written answers and/or video, generally support by a UNDP Sudan staff member)
  5. Submitting all material with basic captions/descriptions, including location, date, activity underway etc.
