Job Purpose/Objectives
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Laboratory Section to best fit Q-Chem multiple demands and provide analytical support to the Section, in compliance to the requirements of policies and standards and in line with the quality management system, and internal customers’ requirements in order to monitor plant production.
Key Accountabilities
Sample Analysis
- Receive and log-in samples according to the testing schedule and carry out the necessary analytical tests according to written procedures
- Batch grade PE products , shipment analysis and CTO sample
- Carry out weekly inspection of all equipment and inform Senior Laboratory testers whenever a problem is identified with the equipment.
- Perform scheduled quality checks or whenever required.
- Undertake minor trouble-shooting activities under the direction of the Senior Laboratory testers to ensure equipment's prime working condition at all times.
Result Entry
- Enter test results in LIMS and inform the production team immediately on non-conforming or abnormal results.
- Assist the Senior Laboratory testers to mitigate and resolve the identified out of control process ensuring control of non-conforming Laboratory work
Proficiency Testing
- Assist the Senior Laboratory testers in ensuring participation of all qualified Laboratory personnel in proficiency testing programs in an impartial manner
Reporting
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements, policies and standards.
- Report all results accurately and on time.
- Communicate Lab group about Lab activities and update Lab shift report

- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices in order to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
- Implement all relevant policies, processes, procedures and instructions of Lab group so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high quality products/services
- Compliance with QChem safety policies and procedures
Qatarization
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
Required : High School or Higher National Diploma
Preferred : 3-year Diploma in Chemistry
Experience
Required : Total of 3-5 years of experience in the O&G Industry, out of which 2 years at an Analyst level.
Preferred : 3 years of experience in Petrochemicals Industry
Languages
Required : Basic, Working Knowledge
Preferred : Proficient
