Job Description

Department/Section: Direct Reporting
Job Title: Legal Advisor
Reports to: Senior Legal Advisor

Job Purpose

The Legal Advisor is responsible for providing quality and accurate legal services, advices, legal opinions and represents Zain before the Courts, Legal Authorities and/or other Legal Tribunals, in legal actions and litigations whether by appearance on behalf of Zain, or by drafting correspondences, and/or pleadings to obtain a favourable ruling. The Legal Advisor also provides advices and support on all issues related to contract drafting and implementation as they relate to Zain and its business, ensuring that all aspects of the contract are well written to safeguard the Zain’s legal interests from the aspect of risks, claims and/or litigation. Follow up the registrations process of real estates, property, business names, patents, trademarks, belongings of Zain, before the competent Official Public Authorities.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities;

Represents Zain and appears before the courts, other competent legal and judicial authorities in litigations, arbitrations and cases in which Zain is being pursued, as well as, drafting the pleadings to obtain a favorable ruling.
Provides proper legal advices and legal opinions to Zain to ensure compliance with the local laws and legislations.
Provides advices and support on all issues related to contracts and agreements ensuring Zain’s interests are well protected, provides legal guidance in commercial documents and represents Zain from a legal perspective in negotiating legal terms for contracts and advising Zain on the implementation of contracts and the potential risks to look out for.
Provides input into the development of the standard employment agreement for local national hires to ensure that the clauses met or exceeded the labor law minimum requirements.
Deliver assistance to Zain in the relationships with the Regulatory and other related stakeholders, including the drafting of any correspondence, claim or requests and provide advices to Zain on regulatory regulations, bylaws and telecom issues, including interconnect, license/concession issues, and agreements.
Provide legal support to all areas of business, strategic objectives and goals of Zain through performing own responsibilities.
Contributes to the achievement of the department KPI’s and perform other duties as required by higher levels of supervision.

What Do You Need to Qualify

A Law degree in Sudan.
Relevant Professional legal qualification essential.
Minimum 5 years previous experience in a legal Advisor role in a private sector organisation essential.
Fluent in Arabic and English preferable.
Knowledge of Sudanese Legal System.
In-depth knowledge of corporate policy definition mandatory.
In-depth knowledge of local country employment legislation is mandatory.
In-depth understanding of the Sudan market and Zain Sudan business strategy, goals and competitive environment.
Knowledge of regulatory, relevant stakeholders, influencers and decision makers.
Relevant IT understanding.
Knowledge of change management and cultural change processes is mandatory.
