Role Purpose


We are looking for motivated professionals to join our team of teachers working in Sudan:
To deliver quality teaching and ensure the effective learning of English
To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
To ensure continuous professional development and strict compliance with safeguarding, EDI, and H&S policies.
To build and maintain relationships with learners and parents which reflect British Council values, and UK/regional and local policy and practice, goals, and priorities.
To demonstrate high levels of professionalism and a sound ability to motivate learners to be successful.




Main opportunities and challenges for this role:

The postholder must ensure they understand and adhere to the corporate Child Protection policy and related practices.
You will plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy
Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards, including but not limited to corporate reports, certificates, meeting attendance
Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices
Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary UK
Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service
Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:

Essential Requirements–

The successful candidate will need to possess the following requirements:
Full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalents to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
Undergraduate / University degree
Recognized teaching qualification with two years minimum post-qualification experience

Desirable requirements
TYLEC or equivalent YL extension
Certificate in Early Childhood Education
Young learners aged 5 to 6 (200+ hours)

Additional Information:
Candidates must have the right to live and work in Sudan
Classes take place on Sundays – Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays 08:30 – 20:30 throughout the year
Teachers will be asked to work on and offsite and will be responsible for their own transportation to the centre.
Whilst most classes take place face-to-face, teachers may also be asked to deliver classes online if needed.
Teachers may also be asked to be provide cover for absent colleagues, sometimes at short notice.
